Time management is soooo important in the world of private practice. Adopting and implementing the right tools of the trade can be an absolute game changer.
Here are the ones I can’t live without to level up my client care and also ensure I nail the 1% without working to midnight every night.
I find these 8 apps also level up my communication skills with clients, let me know how you go.
Let’s Level Up
PhysiApp & Physitrack: Seamless Exercise Prescription
PhysiApp and Physitrack are my go-to's for prescribing exercises with ease. These apps offer extensive libraries of exercises, complete with professional videos and customizable exercises. Also a super helpful tool when you want to teach pacing with clients or symptom management and load.
I use these apps HEAPS, especially for sending client outcome measures before and after programs. And while they may not be the best for strength and conditioning programs, a little hack: we simply film and upload exercises directly to the app. It’s got everything we need.
Runner-Up: Check out TeleHab from VALD. It’s an up-and-coming app that’s quickly becoming a must-have. I have a feeling this one will be a game changer sooner rather than later.
2. AI-Powered Patient Notes
This is, hands down, the biggest shift in clinical care I’ve seen in the last decade. AI-powered note-taking apps like Clinic Scribe and Patient note can change your life. With your boss's and clients' consent, give these a world —they streamline your documentation and free up more time for client care. Integrate these into your practice management system and take the time to customize your client letters. Trust me, it’s a game changer.
3. Slow Motion Camera: The Ultimate Learning Tool
I’m not joking when I say this is one of the best learning tools out there. Investing in a subscription can seriously level up your game. It’s perfect for breaking down client movements, identifying subtle issues, and tailoring your treatment plans.
4. Google Draw: Visual Learning Made Easy
This app is a lifesaver for visual learners. I use it all the time to explain concepts to clients, and the best part is you can easily save and upload the drawings to their notes for later reflection. I’m a Google fan, so Google Draw is my go-to. During sessions, it’s like having a virtual whiteboard where I can simplify complex theories for clients. Click here to learn some of the common visual I use in clinic.
5. Bubble Level & Hand-Held Measure App: Accurate Assessments
For those who love precise measurements, these apps are a must. They’re especially handy in the clinic for post-op knees and necks. While I’m not entirely sure about their accuracy and versatility, they’re definitely helpful when you want to measure range gains and educate clients.
6. Metronome: Precision in Rehab
This ticking app is something I can’t live without, especially when rehabbing calf strains, working with runners, dancers, or tricky tendons that need an external stimulus. It’s simple, effective, and makes a big difference in client outcomes.
7. Audible & Spotify: Learning on the Go
This is how I consume new knowledge. It might not be for everyone, but it works wonders for me. Whether I’m driving or taking a walk, these are my go to.
8. Anatomy Learning - 3D App
This app is super helpful when you need to dive into patho-anatomy with clients. While I’ve shifted more towards treating persistent pain and discussing theories, nothing beats showing a client exactly where their ACL is using a 3D model. It’s a fantastic tool when you need to focus on structural issues.
Now for disclosure I’m millennial who grew up playing zombiness on the home PC. I haven’t used an apple product since the i-pod shuffle so If I have missed some game changing apps let me know !!!!
